State National 2014
A very dramatic playoff marked the final of the 2014 State National Amateur Golf Championship. After the two competition rounds, Alexander Evtimov and Emil Markov finished the 9th State National Championship with an equal number of strokes, namely 157 and had to compete over one additional hole. At the playoff on the 18th hole, Alexander Evtimov demonstrated better nerves and played the hole on par – 5 strokes. In this way, for the first time he became the Men’s champion of Bulgaria after finishing third at the last year’s championship. Emil Markov, who won the first place in 2012, came second, followed by Nevyan Simeonov at the third place with 160 strokes. In the Net ranking, the best result was scored by Ivo Dimitrov – 146 strokes.
Among the ladies, the first place in the Gross ranking was for Miroslava Mihaylova with 33 stableford points and first according to the Net result came Albena Deneva with 59 points.
In the Plate Division, Grudi Grudev kept his leading position from the first day and won the trophy with 76 points. Second came Vladislav Kayzerov with 70 points and third was Raycho Angelov with 69 stableford points.
Among the juniors, the first place in the Boys Division was for the leader from the first day – Lyubomir Kostov, who finished the competition with a total of 152 strokes from the two rounds. Among the ladies, the best Gross result was achieved by Ivana Simeonova – 161 strokes.
Among the youngest players with handicaps from 15 to 28, the first place was for Denis Dochev with 73 points, followed by Denis Staykov with 70 points and Martin Skokanski with 65 points.
80 players took part in the competition, organized by the Bulgarian Golf Association with the support of the supermarket chain “Piccadilly” at Pirin Golf and Country Club.
The awards were presented to the winners by Mr. Tasos Panagiotopoulos, a representative of “Piccadilly” supermarkets, and Mr. Seth Underwood, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Golf Association.
