State Club Championship 2016
A total of 32 players took part in this year's edition of the State Club Championship. St. Sofia Golf Club & SPA, Pravets Golf Club, Pirin Golf & Country Club and Golf Club Air Sofia, participated with teams of 4 in each division.
During the first day the format of the game was Stroke play for the championship division and stableford for the second division. The final ranking for the day was determined by the top three scores per team. So after the first day the hosting team of Pirin Golf ranked first with 237 strokes, followed by St. Sofia Golf Club & SPA with 2 points less. Third was Pravets Golf Club followed by the team of Air Sofia.
In the second division the team of the hosts from Pirin Golf Cub was first with 91 points, followed by the team of St. Sofia Golf Club & SPA with 1 point less. On third place with 85 points was the team of Air Sofia, followed by Pravets Golf Club.
In the final round each team had to play 3 matches – two singles and one fourball betterball by the following scheme – first in the ranking against the second and the third against the fourth. Thus, in both divisions Pirin Golf & Country Club played against St. Sofia Golf Club, Pravets Golf Club played against Air Sofia.
The final round was played in sunny weather, but the strong wind made the game very difficult for all players. Nevertheless all matches were played to the end. So after a brilliant game and victories in all 3 matches Nevyan Simeonov, Andy Peach, Lyubomir Kostov and Plamen Mitsanski from the team of Pirin Golf & Country Club won in the championship division. Second ranked St. Sofia Golf Club team – Radoslav Rashev, Emil Markov, Grisha Chernev and July Botev. The bronze went to the team of Pravets Golf Club – Seth Underwood, Alan Rogut, Rumen Anastassov and Oleg Chernev who won 2 out of 3 matches against the team of Air Sofia – Vatko Beshliev, Oliver Dyumpe, Ivanko Pandezov and Yordan Yordanov.
In the second division there was a change in the ranking after the team of St. Sofia Golf Club & SPA won 2 out of 3 matches and took the trophy and the gold medals. The team of Philip Kittoff, Todor Baychev, Radko Stoynev and Ivan Trifonov won against Dimitar Georgiev, Emil Tomov, Angel Vassilev and Mladen Stoyanov from the team of Pirin Golf & Country Club.
After lots of emotions till the very last hole of the last match, the team of Air Sofia (Peter Gachkov Boyan Kostov, Boyko Angelov and Raycho Andreev) took the bronze beating Simeon Denkov, Sadidin Poyukliev, Wayne Fulton and Galin Ganchev from Pravets Golf Club.
