The Bulgarian Golf Association celebrated its 20th year of hosting their amateur open championship. This was hosted at Pravets golf club , over the years it had been hosted at all golf courses in Bulgaria.
The championship attracts players from Europe & worldwide & this year was no exception with 17 nationalities travelling to Bulgaria. Previous champions returned for this landmark occasion from as far as Australia & the USA.
The men’s championship was won by Philip Kitoff Jr , Bulgarian against a strong international field
The mid-am championship (age 30-49) was won by Christoffer Kenling , Sweden
The Senior championship (age 50+ ) was won by Tom Burley , England who defended his title
The prize giving & closing was attended by Krassimir Guerov, President of the BGA , Lachezar Todorov representing the Hyatt resort , Kancho Stochev ……. Blacksearama Golf & Villas & Ivan Atanasov representing Lighthouse hotel & golf
The minister of sport Mr Georgy Glushkov was unable to attend, however sent a congratulatory letter on achieving a milestone in the development of golf in Bulgaria.
